What is Excelsior’s Week?
IDPHU Campestre Bilingüe, continuing with its original and avant-garde way of imparting education, has decided -within the framework of our macro-project "Pensando con amor" and with the purpose of developing soft skills, to hold the second "Excelsior's Week", a week in which the students of our institution will participate in different academic activities -for instance, debate, conferences and oratory, an initiative that seeks to teach our students to exchange opposing ideas with respect and worthyness.
In order to give our students the opportunity to show off their public speaking skills, during the year, within the programme of each cycle of LANGUAGE ARTS and SPANISH, our students learned to debate current controversial issues and to discuss topics given in public speaking. As well, they were preparing a series of climate talks from Science class in order to promote more environmentally friendly living habits and with the aim of palliating climate change and decreasing our carbon emissions.
Our Department understands that happiness is the path to true learning, one that is never forgotten. It is our desire for our upper grade students to lead campaigns that help them develop and promote soft skills.
We want our students to make fun memories while they are learning a second language, to find opportunities to connect with each other, and to connect with other cultures as they learn, which they accomplished, for instance, when preparing culinary demonstrations of Francophone culture.
We want them to experience the language through the eyes of their heart, to discover the different cultures behind the learning of these two foreign languages: English and French.
